Facts about the Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena
Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena is an ultra modern facility. The arena was finished December 1992.The ski jumping facility consists of a K120 and a K90 ski jumping hill - HS138 and HS100, respectively. The final stages of the construction work to modernise the large jumping hill (HS 138) are completed. The main contractor Veidekke took part in the final inspection on June 15th 2007.
The official opening day was on the 18th of August.

The record for the longest jump in the HS 138 is by Gregor Sclierenzauer, 143 meter, from the World Cup in March 2008 and in the HS 100 is by Espen Bredesen, 104 meter, from the Olympic Games 1994.

Charlift
A chairlift starting at the landing area of the ski jumping hill will take you up to the Ski Jumping Tower at the top of the largest hill. From the open-air terrace in the Ski Jumping Tower, you can enjoy a spectacular panorama view of Lillehammer, Lake Mjøsa and the hill’s amphitheatre. This is a popular stop for taking pictures. A kiosk at the site sells souvenirs and other items, and you can see ski jumpers in action from this vantage point both summer and winter. You can also, of course, take the chairlift down again, and get a taste of what the ski jumpers are feeling on the way down the hill. If you are in good shape, you may want to walk up and down the 954 steps to the top of the hill.

Simulator
There is an alpine downhill and bobsleigh simulator on the landing area of the ski jumping hill. Charge down the downhill course at Kvitfjell, or take a trip in a virtual bobsleigh down the Bobsleigh and Luge Track – all in safe and comfortable surroundings. The flight-simulator movement, combined with the visual images projected on a giant screen, offers a realistic and hair-raising experience. The simulator takes up to 10 persons at a time, and the “ride” lasts 5 minutes.

Lighting the Olympic Flame
Lighting the Olympic Flame is a very popular feature of opening and closing ceremonies organized at the Ski Jumping Hill. The original Olympic Flame has been rebuilt, and a special hand-held torch is used to light the flame.

Create your own “Olympic Egg experience”
From beneath the surface of the landing area at the Ski Jumping Hill, there is a hatch that can be opened – the “Egg” came up from this underground room during the Opening Ceremony of the Lillehammer Games. A hydraulic lift has been installed, making it possible to lift up everything from people to cars from the lower level. The lifting jack consists of two parts. The largest surface can lift products the size of a car up to floor level. The second and smaller revolving surface is octagonal and may be raised about 70cm over the floor level. This special feature can be used to create the highlight of any spectacular event!

Hiding place for trolls, sprites and other supernatural spirits
Underneath the surface of the landing area, there is a “secret” room from which subterranean and supernatural creatures can hide and suddenly appear during a performance. Dancing trolls, spirits and other creatures can be engaged for special events. With accompanying music and candles, the perfect magical setting is in place for your memorable event. Room for up to 25 persons.
