Plastic at Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jump Arena |
 |
We have now startet up again the work to lay plastic on the big jumping hill –HS 134. The first step in the construction process was to adapt the existing hill’s profile to coincided with the FIS regulations. This was done autum 2006. Then the plastic surface will be laid on the jump’s bottom section (outrun) and porcelain tracks mounted on the top section. The jump will also be fitted with a watering system.
The main reason for upgrading the ski jump is that Lillehammer has got one of the best ski jumping facilities in the world and is very popular for jumping during the winter. We also wish to be able to extend the training for use in the summer season too. Ski jumping has now become an all year sport and the Summer Grand Prix competition is the equivalent of the World Cup during the winter. Building plastic on the large hill is necessary to ensure Lillehammer’s position as Norway’s leading ski jumping arena.
The work should be ready at the 23rd of June.
